Let's just say it: the 2015 baseball has been a long, strange trip, and we've just entered the month of July.
On the last Monday morning of June, the Indians had just been swept clean out of Baltimore, and stood 12 games out of first place, with Minnesota, Detroit and Kansas City ahead of them.
No, the season wasn't over, but the margin of error seemed intensely small.
Standing in front of the Tribe was a four-game set with the tied-for-first-and-feisty Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays certainly aren't a perfect team, but former Indians bullpen coach Kevin Cash had them playing far better than their talent suggested. This was a four game set that could end the season before it began.
Cleveland swept.
Kansas City lost four in a row.
Now, the Lake Erie Warriors stand eight games out, and while they still have the Tigers, Twins and Royals in front of them, things look a lot more manageable than they did five days ago.
Enter the Pittsburgh Pirates, the Houston Astros and the Oakland A's, and ten games that could set the tone for a playoff run in the second half of the season.
Jim Pete (@JimPeteEHC) of Everybody Hates Cleveland and Ryan Thompson (@RThompAK13) talk about it all, from the series sweep, to the oncoming Pirates, to the upcoming schedule, and what in the hell to do with Michael Bourn going forward.
Do the Indians have guts, or don't they?
And how about this rotation?
